Who We AreIntentional Data is an Austin-based social data science consultancy founded on a simple but urgent belief: the organizations doing the most important work in our communities deserve the same quality of data infrastructure, research capacity, and strategic support that well-resourced institutions take for granted.
We partner with nonprofits, grassroots organizations, city and local government agencies, state research initiatives, and foundations to build the systems, tools, and capacity needed to measure what matters, demonstrate impact, and drive lasting change. Our work spans program evaluation, applied research, data literacy training, community participation and strategic planning, program design, and dashboard development.
Meet the founder
Intentional Data was founded by Dominique Charlie Oquendo, a community researcher, data strategist, facilitator, and social data science practitioner based in Austin, Texas.
Dominique built Intentional Data from a non-traditional but deeply practice-rooted foundation. Rather than entering the field through institutional pathways, they developed their expertise through direct, community-embedded engagement — working alongside nonprofits, grassroots organizations, city agencies, and foundations across Texas to solve real problems with real data.
That proximity is not incidental. It is the foundation of everything Intentional Data does.
Over the course of their career, Dominique has led program evaluations of city and foundation-funded initiatives, designed and facilitated state-funded research studies, built data literacy training programs for individual organizations and foundation-wide grantee cohorts, developed community participation and strategic planning processes for city agencies, and created interactive dashboards and data visualization tools used by program staff, leadership, and community stakeholders.
Dominique is also the creator of Rootwork by Intentional Data — a guided planning platform currently in development that productizes Intentional Data's methodology so any organization, regardless of budget or technical capacity, can access the tools and frameworks built through years of community-embedded practice.
